In the UK, despite May's new car registrations falling 3.5% and the market expecting to be soft in June, Inchcape said its retail business achieved like for like sales growth of 3% for the five months, outperforming the UK market by over three percentage points.

Inchcape sales in emerging global markets were more than 50% up on 2007 due to market growth and recent acquisitions.
